This MoU highlights that the first time a global airport will work together with ARPA-E—DOE’s invention wing, to fast-track the development and disposition of new energy technologies to decarbonize the aviation industry.

Evelyn Wang, ARPA-E Director, Ron Nirenberg, San Antonio Mayor, Dr. Taylor Eighmy, UTSA President and Karma Nilsson, CPS Energy Vice President of Customer Value were all present at the signing ceremony organized at Stinson Municipal Airport in San Antonio.

With this opportunity, they are happy to work together and highlight their ground-breaking energy technologies that could change aviation’s future, said Evelyn N. Wang, ARPA-E Director.

Wang added that today’s signing of MOU is one step forward in the right direction to guaranteeing that these state-of-the-art technologies are built, and integrated in America. Their expectation is that this agreement will provide the right conditions to allow electrified airports in the future.
